Benjamin Franklin received one of the most prestigious scientific awards in the world when the Royal Society of London awarded him the Godfrey Copley Medal for his experiments in the new field of electricity. Franklin credited Archibald Spencer, an Anglican minister, with sparking his interest in electricity.
