Sample Chapter - Southeast Indiana Agritourism Guide

Farm and Greenhouse Markets Southeast Edition
Huber Orchard and Winery
Founded by German immigrant Simon Huber in 1843, Huber Orchard and Winery grows an extensive selection of apples.
From his native Baden-Baden, Germany, Simon learned the winemaking craft and brought his knowledge with him to his 80 acre farm. He made his first wines from strawberries. The farm prospered and grew through seven generation and has grown to over 600 acres. The Huber Orchard and Winery is the largest winemaking operation in Indiana. The eighteen varieties of grapes produce over 400,000 pounds of grapes on average per year. The farm produces more than wine. The product mix includes fruits and vegetables. The Huber’s Starlight Distillery on the farm produces different kinds of brandies. Tours are available for those wishing to learn more.
